"I read with interest the news article on BBC News online dated Saturday 31 July 2004 entitled "Smicer out for six months".In the right hands the success rate of this type of ACL reconstruction is high.Smicer can be reliably expected to return to training in six months. However return to full fitness, and international duties may be more prolonged."

"One of the factors which Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer found to his cost was that the associated injuries to the menisci or articular surface of the knee can be more troubling. If these lesions are not properly treated then the success of the procedure may not be all that is promised."
