Vioxx study shows risk of Cardiovascular Problems

"Merck Sharp & Dohme withdraws Vioxx"
MSD has announced a voluntary withdrawal of Vioxx/Vioxx Acute, its arthritis and acute pain medication. A trial of the drug started in 2000 and involving 2,600 patients has shown an increased relative risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack or stroke after 18 months of treatment.
On the basis of this data, MSD has removed the product worldwide and stopped all clinical trials. More information is available by calling the MSD Medical Department on 01992 467272
