Patellar Tendonitis - Liverpool FC player Neil Mellor undergoes treatment at the Bristol Nuffield Hospital

Author: Webmaster     Date: 3/8/2005

"Mr Johnson performs Minimally invasive 'Keyhole' surgery on Liverpool FC striker Neil Mellor"

Liverpool FC player Neil Mellor was recently treated by Mr Johnson for patellar tendonitis in both his left and right knee's. Patellar tendonitis is a commonly troublesome problem, which affects sportsmen and runners. Mr Johnson's particular interest and expertise in the condition has garnered worldwide recognition with patients flying in from as far afield as the USA and Korea.

The minimally invasive procedure Mr Johnson developed for the treatment of the condition has a 95% success rate and allows the patient to recover quickly, leaving hospital on the same day as surgery.

Neil Mellor comments(taken from LFC website)....

"The operation went okay and when I spoke to the surgeon(Mr Johnson) afterwards he seemed happy. I'm not in that much pain at the moment, which is surprising, and I'm able to walk on crutches. I've been told to take it easy and just do nothing for the next two weeks. After that it will just be a case of strengthening the knees again and then building up my fitness."

Neil, who has recently broken into the Liverpool first team, will miss the rest of this season but should be back in pre-season training by July, ready for the start of next season
